Short Text – Do you want to make a difference in the fight against cancer in our community? Plan now to participate in the Relay For Life of Needham, Dedham and Wellesley on May 16-17 at Newman Elementary School. Read more to find out how you can help.

Detailed Text –

Relay For Life is the signature activity of the American Cancer Society that raises money to support research, education, advocacy and patient service programs. It is a fun, team-based, overnight event with hundreds of participants. Eight to 15 people band together to form a Relay team and pledge to keep at least one member walking around a track for the entire 18 hours of the Relay as the team camps out nearby. This symbolizes that “There Is No Finish Line Until We Find A Cure.”

This year’s Relay For Life of Needham, Dedham and Wellesley will take place May 16-17 at Newman Elementary School on Central Avenue in Needham from 3:00 pm Saturday to 9:00 am Sunday. During the Relay, we will celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost to the disease and make a commitment to fight back to help put an end to cancer. To learn more about how you can become involved in this life-changing event, please visit www.RelayNeedham.com or contact Sabra Sherry, Team Development and Luminaria Chair, at relaysabra@yahoo.com or 781-444-4560.

We are also looking for people to participate in Cancer Prevention Study -3, a large-scale study to look at genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors that may cause or prevent cancer. This is an historic study that will affect generations to come. Prior studies by the American Cancer Society have yielded demonstrable results, always with the goal of bringing us closer to a cure.

We are seeking study participants between the ages of 30 and 65 who have never had cancer and who agree to be followed over time through questionnaires. Enrollment will be conducted at the Relay For Life on May 16 from 4:30 to 8:30 pm. For more information or to enroll, please contact Adam May, CPS-3 Chair, at needhamcps3@verizon.net or visit http://www.cancer.org/cps3.
