This page is for managing the use of Constant Contact for reaching out to people to get them to take the challenge.

Michael has created a Constant Contact template called 10% Invitation for these e-mails. It can be further customized with text edits, etc. A copy should be made, creating a new e-mail, each time you use it for a different audience and want to change it.

See the Discussion tab for status.

Green Needham's 10% Energy Challenge: Fighting Climate Change One Household at a Time

Did you know that you can keep 1700 pounds of CO2 out of the atmosphere each year by unplugging a little-used second refrigerator? Or that you can reduce CO2 emissions by about 700 pounds ju st by adding one more vegetarian meal to your weekly menu?

You had a “sneak preview” of the 10% Energy Challenge when you attended the League’s Fall Forum featuring Frances Moore Lappé. Now the campaign is rolling and we invite you to be one of the first 100 households to participate.

Green Needham Collaborative has created a simple online checklist which shows you how to make your personal plan for saving energy (and seeing your utility bills go down). We’ve made it easy. The MyPlan checklist itself only takes about 10 minutes to fill out – although it’s great to have a family meeting and involve the kids.

Green Needham has an ambitious goal: to keep at least 1 million pounds of CO2 out of the atmosphere each year by getting local households to cut their energy use. We’re off to a good start. Since our kick-off in January, 45 people have taken the 10% Energy Challenge by making their energy-saving plans. The actions they have pledged to take will reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 280,000 pounds each year.

The first hundred people to take the Challenge are the most important. (And you don’t have to be a Needham resident.) These “early adopters” get the ball rolling and build up momentum that will make the campaign visible and effective. Once people realize that more and more of their neighbors are saving energy, they will want to also.

So please help. Click here [insert link] to take the 10% Energy Challenge and make your personal energy-saving plan.

Green Needham has an ambitious goal: to keep at least 1 million pounds of CO2 out of the atmosphere each year by getting local households to cut their energy use. We’re off to a good start. Since our kick-off in January, 60 people have taken the 10% Energy Challenge by making their energy-saving plans. The actions they have pledged to take will reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 400,000 pounds each year.
