Images

The most straight-forward way to add images to your wiki page is to upload them to the wiki, then simply add a wiki link to the image. Here's how to do it:

• Upload the image file
  • Go to the File Upload page either directly or by first clicking on the Special pages link toward the bottom of the left-hand side of the screen, then clicking on the Upload file link
  • Use the Browse button to select the file on your computer

Optionally, fill in a meaningful name for the file on the wiki (which makes it easier to refer to it in the wiki)

• Add the following wherever you want to use the image:

[[Image:filename.jpg]] 

Additional features

• To have the image displayed inline with your text, add the following:

[[Image:filename.jpg|left]]

which will float the image to the left ("center" and "right" work similarly) You can explicitly size the picture:

[[Image:filename.jpg|left|300 px]]

will make the picture appear at 300 pixels wide

• If you don't have much text accompanying the picture, but you have text following that you want separated, add the following after the picture-related text:

<br style="clear:both" />

Everything after this text will be separated from the picture

• You can have text appear when the user moves the cursor over the picture

• You can use a "thumbnail" version and turn the text into a caption:

[[Image:filename.jpg|right|300 px|thumb|Newman School Driveway]]

Xeriscape Landscaping

The Town has utilized xeriscape landscaping in the back of Town Hall and the island in front of Newman School. These xeriscape demo gardens will require little watering and maintenance once properly established. This will reduce not only the amount of water used, it will reduce the pollution caused by lawnmowers and maintenance vehicles. The Town plans on establishing more of these gardens in the Town.
